Great set for any patriotic theme party. All sizes of plates worked well at our 4th of July barbecue. The dinner plate handled a hamburger with several sides or 2 franks/sides, all in rolls. The dessert plates even worked well for children size dinner servings or burger or franks with no sides. They were also used for salads. The utensils held up nicely. The knives are not steak knives but did eventually cut through sausages and steak. The spoons held up dishing out really hard ice cream without breaking and not one fork broke. The plates also held up when cutting the steaks. The cups held up well with both hot (coffee) and cold drinks.These themed place settings are never cheap but these were a good value compared to other sets we looked at. We had a small crowd this time but for larger crowds, we purchase these types of sets and combine them with plain coordinating color plates, cups etc. We liked this set because the simple flag design can be used for Memorial, 4th of July or any patriotic themed event. Will buy again.
